Your opportunity at Gatherwell
We run Vancouver’s best and nicest sauna boat - new in False Creek. Guests board near the Plaza of Nations, we head out on the water, and they sweat and plunge with the city going past the window. It is, we think, the best sauna in Vancouver, and we need one more Captain on our roster.
We're looking for SVOP-certified captains to join a small on-call roster. This isn't a full-time job — it's a handful of sailings a week, paid per sailing, on a schedule we build together.
One thing to be clear about: you're the captain and the host. There's no second crew member. You drive the boat and you run the guest experience — the welcome, the briefing, the sauna, the conversation. If you like people as much as you like boats, this is the job for you!
What you'll be doing
- Operating the vessel safely and confidently in False Creek and around the harbour
- Pre-departure checks, fuel, lines, and weather calls. If the conditions say no, the answer is no — that call is yours and we back it
- Delivering the safety briefing to guests in a way that reassures rather than alarms
- Hosting the session — welcoming guests, keeping the sauna running, and being good company. You're the only crew on board!
- Docking and departure, tidy handover, log completed
- Flagging anything that needs attention before it becomes a problem
Are you our next Captain?
